Who Should Apply

Start-ups working on solutions in Consumer Experience Artificial Intelligence, Connected Homes and IoT Security are encouraged to apply.

 

To be eligible for the Second Go Ignite Global Call, all members of the start-up should be above the age of 18. The founding members of the start-ups need to be dedicated to the programme if the start-up is shortlisted for participation in the Second Go Ignite Global Call.

 

Start-ups are expected to be in their growth stage with a ready product that can be taken to market or minimally able to be commercialised within 6 months in the geographies that the Alliance members operate in.

How it Works

Application Process

  • The Second Go Ignite Global Call will be opened until June 5th, 2017
  • Interested start-ups are required to submit their applications online via the platform of the Alliance member Telefonica Open Future

 

Assessment Process

  • The assessment of the applications will be based on the following criteria-
    • Maturity of the solution
    • Synergies with Go Ignite Alliance members
    • Business model and growth potential of the solution
    • Go-to-market strategy
    • Innovativeness and disruptive nature of the solution
    • Team skills and balance of capabilities within the team
  • Shortlisted start-ups will be invited to pitch to the Alliance members
  • Upon completion of the assessment, successful start-ups will be notified and start their adventure with the Alliance members

Overview

Q1. What is the criteria for the Go Ignite Global Call?

Your start-up has to be in the growth stage with a product that is ready to launch to market or minimally can be commercialised within 6 months and it has to be in one of the focus areas (Consumer Experience Artificial Intelligence, Connected Homes and IoT Security). Additionally, should the start-up be selected for participation in the programme, the founders, or at least a majority of the members of the team, should be fully dedicated to the start-up/project and all members must be above the age of 18.

 

Q2. What are the benefits of the Go Ignite Global Call?

The selected start-ups will be provided with business development opportunities in each of the geographies the Alliance members operate in. However, additionally, following benefits might apply:

  1. Two Day Workshop: Work with experts within telco innovation, technologies, and investment activities from all the four Telecommunication Groups, gaining knowledge and developing new strategies
  2. Exclusive Business Partnership Meetings: Meet with key decision makers within the four Telecommunications Groups offering the possibility for business partnerships to emerge
  3. Venture Capital Pitching: Private pitch sessions with the four Telecommunication Groups’ Venture Capital teams offering the possibility of receiving investments for your start-up
  4. Market Access: Get the opportunity to access the Alliance’s customer base – both enterprises and consumer customers – with over a billion customers globally
  5. Co-Working Space: The use of one of the co-working spaces of an Alliance member for up to 6 months*
  6. Mentors and experts: A dedicated mentor from each of the Alliance members who will handle business unit introductions to that member’s business units
  7. Community: Be part of the global community of the Go Ignite Alliance members
  8. Networking: Access to an international network of mentors, experts, companies and investors. Additionally, you will get invitations to start-up showcases, regional and global start-up events organised by each Alliance member

Q3. Can an individual apply for the Go Ignite Global Call?

No, you have to be a team of at least two people that work on the project.

 

Q4. Are there any restrictions on the geographical region in which my start-up operates?

No, there are no restrictions.

 

Q5. My start-up has been selected. Does this mean that Go Ignite will be investing in my business?

No. We will organise a private pitching session with the venture capital teams from the four Telecommunication Groups to provide the winners with the opportunity to raise investments from the Alliance. A possible investment decision will be made by each member of the Go Ignite Alliance. Separately, we will introduce selected start-ups to Go Ignite Alliance business units for further review of business partnership opportunities.

Application Process

Q1. What is the application process like?

The application process starts with submitting your application via the Telefónica Open Future platform. As soon as you have answered all questions and uploaded all necessary material, your application will be reviewed by the members of the Go Ignite Alliance. After the application phase ends, we will contact you. If you are shortlisted, we will schedule a face-to-face or web conference meetings with your team and possible business units from the Alliance.

If those meetings go well, we will inform you by the end of June if you are selected and accepted for the Second Go Ignite Global Call.

 

Q2. What is the closing date for submitting my application?

Application process and the application platform will close on June 5th, 2017 11:59 pm CET.

 

Q3. What information is required to apply?

You have to apply via the Telefónica Open Future Platform. There you will have to answer a comprehensive set of questions, some of them mandatory. Information required is mainly about your start-up, the business model, timelines and your team. You also have to upload a pitch deck with the most important information about your start-up.

 

Q4. I have left out some information in my application. Can I resubmit my application?

You are encouraged to review and modify your application in draft mode via the login to the platform before you submit the finalised application for the call. Once you have submitted the application, you will not be able to make further changes to your submission.

Do ensure that you finalised and submit the application before the deadline of the application phase is reached.

 

Q5. Do I have to present my business pitch in person during the selection process?

During the selection phase, the pitch is done either in person or via a WebEx/ video conference.

Go Ignite Global Call Programme

Q1. How long does the programme last?

The programme will kick-start with a 2-day workshop and will last for six months. It will presumably start in September 2017.

 

Q2. How will the evaluation be done?

The members of the Go Ignite Alliance will evaluate all start-ups based on a set of criteria that the members have agreed on. Those are stated in the Terms and Conditions.
